Service Manager (Kitimat)

Service Manager Overview 

Reporting directly to the Regional Service Manager, the Service Manager will attract, retain and effectively engage personnel to ensure the overall success of the department and branch. In addition, he or she will supervise maintenance and repair of materials handling and aerial equipment in the Kitimat region. Responsible for the supervision of a team of service staff and technicians, the Service Manager ensures customer satisfaction, while providing direction and motivation to all employees in the region. The Service Manager helps to build the service structure in the branch and ensures adherence to safety policies and procedures on a daily basis, whether on a remote jobsite or at the branch level.

The Opportunity: 

  • Develops key customer accounts
  • Maintains frequent contact with staff in the region and address concerns as they arise
  • Conducts regular toolbox meetings with all mechanics in the region
  • Frequently reviews each service job description and performs spot checks
  • Conducts regular meetings with Parts and Service staff at the branch level
  • Completes Process Improvement Forms on jobs as required
  • Actively addresses customer service and facility issues
  • Maintains a close awareness of all performance measures for the region
  • Day to day safety audits of general workplaces/sites and site practices of all branch staff ensuring the department safety is at its top level
  • Human Resources functions include hiring, training and motivating staff, scheduling work hours, employee performance management and terminations.

The Ideal Candidate 

  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in a supervisory role is required
  • Experience in a similar role, in a similar industry, is strongly preferred
  • Licensed mechanic or mechanical/technical aptitude is preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Able and willing to travel within the region
  • As safety is an integral part of our business, a heavy involvement in safety around the work place in a previous position will be considered an asset.
  • Must be extremely organized and a self-starter; able to work with limited supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and trouble-shooting skills; deals with conflict effectively
  • Must be a strong multi-tasker, and must excel at coping with conflicting priorities and deadlines.
